New Hayes Ultra Modem Driver for NetWare MHS 1.5 revB and MHS 1.5C.

This new Hayes V-Series ULTRA Smartmodem 9600 modem driver can now handle
sending messages to the receiving MHS host using a 2400 baud modem.

Generic Installation Instructions
---------------------------------
Unless otherwise noted, you can add modem drivers by following these
steps.
1) Stop NetWare MHS and exit.
2) If you are running the Network Edition, re-login as a supervisor
equivalent (necessary to change the MHS configuration and copy
files to the MHS directory).
3) Copy all the extracted *.DEF and *.LOG files to your %MV\MHS\SYS
directory (where %MV is the value of your MV environment variable).
4) Install your new modem following the manufacturer's instructions.
5) Type "MHS" and press <Enter> twice (to display the main menu)
- Select "Manage Directories"
- Select "Set up this host"
6) Set modem type to the correct driver name (eg HULTRA)
- Set Default speed for modem (in this case 9600)
7) Exit to the Directory Manager
- Exit to the main menu
8) Select "Setup Transport Server"
- Set Speed sensing enabled to YES or NO depending on the modem
- Change the modem type to the correct driver name (same as in
step 4)
- Change the modem speed to match that in step 4 (here it's 9600)
9) Make sure that all "hosts which call this host" have a baud rate
compatible with yours in their host definition at this host.
10) Exit MHS, logout, and log MHS back in (for the Personal Edition,
just restart MHS).
General Note concerning high-speed modems:
If you have an older computer or a PC/XT or PC compatible computer -
check the chip used in the serial port. If the chip is an 8250 or 8250B
it will NOT work at high speed. To allow high speed modems to be used,
get an AT serial card that uses a faster version of the 8250 (numbered
as a 82450, 16450, or 16550). An AT serial card WILL work in a PC/XT.
Special Instructions for Hayes V-Series ULTRA Smartmodem 9600
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modem driver name: HULTRA
Default speed: 9600 *This must be the speed set for this driver. *
Speed sensing enabled: NO (the modem does the speed sensing)
Important Note: Hayes V-Series Modems REQUIRE RTS (pin 4) to be connected
when the modem is connected at 9600 or the modem will not TRANSMIT data
to the REMOTE modem. Some pre-made serial cables do not connect RTS to
the computer. Please check that your cable connects the following lines
from the modem to the computer: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 20, 22. The pins
these lines connect to on the computer side depends on the style of
computer. For example:
o AT 9 Pin Connectors (Modem Pin Number is the FIRST Number)
(Connector on Computer will be a 9 pin MALE (PINS) )
2-3, 3-2, 4-7, 5-8, 6-6, 7-5, 8-1, 20-4, 22-9
o PC/AT 25 Pin Connectors (Modem Pin Number is the FIRST Number)
(Connector on Computer will be a 25 pin MALE (Pins) )
2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 20-20, 22-22
ALL LINES LISTED ARE REQUIRED ON BOTH STYLES.
Also note that a 25 pin FEMALE is a PARALLEL PORT connector. Connecting
the modem to a PARALLEL PORT *WILL* DAMAGE the PARALLEL PORT.
